If you use a base that is non-transparent, this will not work and it will color under, not under that it shows through the base. For those that don't have a computer device, even a chromebook (on my chromebook it is extremely hard to make refs since I use the fast way, which doesn't work, so I have to use the slow way), some good ones to use are IbisPaint X (which I use when I want to make refs but don't have my laptop available), Procreate, etc.
For those who do not use laptops, they don't work on laptops. I use FireAlpaca, which is for Windows (which I use) and Mac. A painting software that supports layers and importing images.
